Oliver Lucanus, born 1970 near Munich, Germany moved to Canada in the late 1980s. He has imported aquarium fish commercially for 15 years and has visited habitats on all continents on numerous expeditions. He has published a number of books and articles.

His personal favorites are South American and West African fishes and poison arrow frogs.
