Naked name from Latin, refers in taxonomy to a name given to a taxa in violation of the rules of the International Code for Zoological Nomenclature and hence fails to qualify as a valid scientific name and is considered unavailable. The name can be still used in a proper scientific description, in which case the date of publication should be that of the valid publication.
