" The nomenclature and systematics of all generic and specific taxa, valid, synonymous or unavailable, today belonging to livebearing cyprinodontiformes fishes (Anablepsinae, Goodeinae, Poeciliidae minus Tomeurus gracilis) are reviewed (one by one). Each taxon is analysed from its description until latest published evidence in order to assess its status and evaluate its validity; detailed results include numerous proposed changes following argumentations in accordance with the edition of ICZN Code applicable at the concerned date. Among very many corrections and changes are the following highlights: the spelling of Dow’s Anableps is proposed as dowii in full respect of collector and first reviser because Miller’s previous distinct analyses cannot stand; a systematic knot is disclosed in the identification of audax, garmani, lateralis, 3 congeners in genus Characodon; Hubbsichthys is suggested, with reservations, to be moved automatically to synonymy of subgenus Allopoecilia based on earlier synonymy of its type species but then the status of dauli and wandae becomes unstable within related and nearby-ranged caucana-laurae in a large sense, pending a future study of live topotypes of laurae, while, on the other hand, it is not unlikely that Hubbsichthys is more related to subgenus Mollienesia based on a new analysis of Schultz’s description; Toluichthys is likely a junior synonym of Orthophallus (itself a suggested synonym of Paragambusia, a subgenus of Gambusia); the systematic status of aquaristic descriptions historically in genera Platypoecilus and Xiphophorus are discussed in details; authorship, date of availability and spelling of incrementally described Xiphophorus xiphidius are changed according to then current ICZN code from erroneous Gordon (alone, 1932, as xiphidium); Gambusia punctata var. punctulata Garman, 1895 is an available name, overlooked in all modern databases; numerous lectotypes are herein designated to clarify some ambiguity in type series or in type localities or after the present study of material in some genera or after other authors' unpublished moves that are herein followed but published; the identity of 2 old taxa, previously as nomina inquirenda, is analysed: Xiphophorus minor Weyenbergh (1877) is proposed to be moved to genus Jenynsia as a probable junior synonym of variable lineata without discarding the options of being a senior synonym of luxata or more probably tucumana or a valid cryptic sp., pending topotypes easy collections and Girardinus januarius reticulatus Köhler (1906) is proposed as an available name and possibly as a senior synonym of Phalloceros harpagos, wide ranged and molecularly polyphyletic, but both reticulatus and harpagos are maintained as provisionally valid, pending topotypes easy collections; the detailed nomenclatural analysis of synonymous taxa, Hemixiphophorus and junior Poecilopsis, is still due to be done then it is provisionally unchanged herein; family-group name Chapalichthyini Doadrio & Dominguez, 2004 is shown as not valid and a junior synonym of Zoogoneticini Hubbs, 1924; family-group name Belonesocinae is shown as having priority over Gambusiinae, herein downgraded to tribe level. The type locality of each taxon is reviewed, in many cases precised and GPS data are added for the first time. The etymology of each taxon is also suggested based on Latin and Greek roots or historical evidence, mostly for the first time. Systematics of genera and subgenera are aligned to latest molecular evidence (Reznick et al., 2017) and shown in 3 tables according to the 3 (sub)families with addition of a new distinguishing meristic character (D/A ratio), unused for livebearing Cyprinodontiformes, enabling to move a species flock (eiseni et al.) of Goodeinae to another genus (Xenoophorus) and a species flock of Poeciliidae to a new genus Hiatirhaphis nov. gen "
