Conservation: Poecilia catemaconis n'est pas évalué par l'Union Internationale pour la Conservation de la Nature dans la Liste rouge des espèces menacées. Poecilia catemaconis is commercially exploited by fishermen in Lake Catemaco (Miller, 1975:18), and although the limited distribution of this species, its resilience is sufficiently high to maintain a stable population.
