Artenschutz: Trichromis salvini wurde durch die Internationale Union für die Erhaltung der Natur (IUZN) in der Roten Liste bedrohter Arten bewertet als (LC) nicht gefährdet (2018). The habitat remains stable in most of its range, although apparently the introduction of Plecostomus in the Usumacinta drainage (2007) and its subsequent invasion has wiped out some populations.
