Conservation: Thorichthys callolepis is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (DD) data deficient (2018). Thorichthys callolepis is not listed in the Mexican Official Norm NOM-059-ECOL-2001. The habitat remains stable in most of its range, due to the its limited extension and particular needs of the species. Thorichthys callolepis is vulnerable to environmental alterations, even if moderate. Thorichthys callolepis, with its very restricted range in the Tehuantepec isthmus, in an area where a long standing project of a new inter-oceanic pass has been deceived and waits it's time to become reality, it should be of special conservation concern, as well as all the species endemic to this area.
