Conservation: Maskaheros argenteus is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). Given the large distribution range and the stable conditions in most of the places where M. argenteus inhabits, this in spite of the introduced species, the risk for its conservation seems to be low at the moment.
