Conservation: Cyprinodon alvarezi is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (EW) extinct in the wild (2018). Reported extinct in 1994 by Burkhead (2012). I nevertheless was able to see what apparently were the last specimens in March 1996, when the sprigs had been reduced to a few isolated small poodles.
