" The goodeid Girardinichthys viviparus is highly sensitive to high temperatures and should be maintained below 20•c. This species is endemic to the Valley of Mexico, a place in Central Mexico in which the capital of this country is located. In january 2013 the author visited three collection sites: Chapultepec-Park in Mexico City, Laguna Zumpango and Lago Tecocomulco - The latter is where this species was discovered only a few years ago. In Chapultepec Park no attempts were made to catch fish. Attempts in Laguna Zumpango failed to provide evidence for the presence of G. viviparus. In Lake Tecocomulco the author and fellow travellers John Lyons, Kyle Piller and students from Morella University caught about 40 specimens in a small, densely grown cove. The fish were found between the water plants. A few specimens were introduced to the Netherlands "
