Ochrona: Herichthys deppii jest wpisany prez Międzynarodową Unię Ochrony Przyrody na Czerwoną Listę Zagrożonych Gatunków IUCN jako (LC) Najmniejszej troski (2018). Although Herichthys deppii has a high resilience and the habitat remains relatively pristine, fishing by local people, currently regularly using spear guns directed to breeding pairs is intense and the distribution range is rather small, so I believe it is important to monitor the population of H. deppii, which over the years has apparently decreased in number.
