Conservation: Xenotaenia resolanae est évalué par l'Union Internationale pour la Conservation de la Nature dans la Liste Rouge des espèces menacées comme étant (VU) vulnerable (2018). Water pollution from sugar mill discharges, human sewage, and animal wastes had eliminated or reduced several populations by the 1980s, but since then the remaining populations seem to have stabilized (Lyons et al., 2019:144). An additional threat comes from nonnative fish species causing competition for food (Köck, 2019).
