Pair guarding their fry, por Juan Miguel Artigas Azas [00:01:25]

A pair of Paraneetroplus bulleri guarding their fry in the Rio Solosuchil, part of the Coatzacoalcos River drainage (Oaxaca). It is remarkable to see how the fry withstand the powerful water currents. The parent pair expends tremendous energy protecting them. The fry feed on periphyton growing on the rocks, and when danger approaches, they quickly vanish, hiding among the rocks.
