Since its creation, Freshwater Fishes of Mexico has worked to document, study, and celebrate the extraordinary diversity of Mexico’s native freshwater fishes — a natural heritage found nowhere else on Earth.
Our goal is to build and maintain the most complete and accessible resource on Mexico’s inland fish fauna, including:
- Comprehensive species profiles and regional checklists
- Photographs, distribution data, and field observations
- Historical records and up-to-date taxonomic information
- Educational material to inspire appreciation and conservation
This project exists thanks to the dedication of our founder and the support of a small community of enthusiasts, researchers, and contributors — and we offer it without institutional funding.
