The Freshwater Fishes of Mexico site has been created to promote awareness of Mexican continental fish species and help in their conservation, as well as help you in your research. Many Mexican freshwater fish species are highly endangered and many species and populations have disappeared in recent years. While this page is quite young, we have been working hard to add information about the over 500 species of fish inhabiting Mexico.
We so far offer 29 full genus and 74 full species profiles with complete information about taxonomy, distribution, biology, aquarium keeping and conservation. Profiles are accompanied by distribution maps for each species. This number is increasing as fast as we can.
We offer 3209 pictures in our Mexican Freshwater Fish Catalog which are individually chosen by their beauty and information value. Most of them were taken in natural habitat by the finest photographers and many of them are unique. This number is constantly increasing.
In order for this effort to maintain and grow, we need you support. The page will grow as fast as we can get support for it. If you are already a member of the Cichlid Room Companion, you can ask to extend your subscription to this page.
