" Fundulus philpisteri sp. nv., is an endemic fundulid fish from the spring and marshes known as Baflo de San Ignacio, Rio San Fernando basin, Nuevo Leon state, Mexico. Geologically the locality is on the province of the Tamaulipan platform. The isolation, and thermal waters habitat, rich in sulphur salts is an important factor in differentiation of this species. Its closest relative is Fundulus grandis, a coastal form. The new species is characterized by a high number of conspicuous bars, commonly in inverted V's or U's; dorsal profile very convex; head profile acute; eye larger than snout; head scales regular "
