Conservation: Hybopsis boucardi est évalué par l'Union Internationale pour la Conservation de la Nature dans la Liste Rouge des espèces menacées comme étant (EN) en danger (2018). Hybopsis boucardi may be restricted to the Cuernavaca area, where water extraction and stream pollution have both led to serious problems for the aquatic fauna (Schönhuth et al., 2006:10). H. boucardi is additionally threatened by the introduction of exotic species, mainly rainbow tout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (Contreras-MacBeath, 2019).
