Abstract:

" The Tower’s goodeid, Ataeniobius toweri, is one of Mexico’s lesser-known livebearing fishes and a distinctive representative of the family Goodeidae. This article introduces its unusual taxonomic history, restricted natural range, habitat preferences, appearance, and aquarium maintenance, with special attention to its conservation value and the challenges of successfully keeping and breeding it. Although modest at first glance, mature individuals reveal attractive coloration and fascinating reproductive traits. For aquarists interested in rare Mexican fishes, the species offers both a rewarding husbandry challenge and an opportunity to help preserve a threatened lineage rarely seen in the hobby. "

Classification: Captive maintenance.
