Conservation: Trichromis salvini is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2018). The habitat remains stable in most of its range, although apparently the introduction of Plecostomus in the Usumacinta drainage (2007) and its subsequent invasion has wiped out some populations.
