The small Arroyo Margarita flows into Lake Catemaco (Veracruz). Not far from the lake, the little town of Margarita prohibits fishing, which is now commonly done using spear guns. Swimming in the arroyo reveals the effects of this restriction, the large Vieja fenestrata group are unafraid of your presence. In many places today, this once-common situation no longer exists: few large fish remain, and those that do are very wary of people.
